Finally a good rain but looks like not much out west. Maybe the rain pattern has changed and won't be so long between and more out west.

We only got a couple of drops but I'm glad someone is getting some rain.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

Looks like we are getting some at our place in Ok. My buddy said we got a couple of inches last week too. I'll take it.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

In central texas we got 4" yesterday and possibly more today. Out west (Ft Hood) they got 4.7" may be a sign of things to come in the future. Thanks to God.

I was jealous of you fellows until this afternoon. The weathermen were predicting no more than a 1/2 inch of rain here in the coastal bend...looks like we may exceed that by a little bit. No drought buster, but we'll take it!

I drove from S. San Antonio to Laredo in horizontal rain today, no complaints. Saw plenty of wrecks. The part I liked best was it was still coming down pretty good when I got to Webb Co. Hope this is a good omen.

There're probably more quail in Webb county than there is in any other county in Texas. I got invited by a guide to bring my dogs down to one of the Briscoe ranches, west of Freer, in Webb county. The ranch was a total of 11,000 acres, and was leased to three different groups. It was before hunting got started off UTVs. I got on a tricked out Jeep with my two dogs and 4 other hunters. We passed by another camp, and there was an area of quail feathers, wings, etc, as big as my living room.
My hunters would get off and go out chasing singles in front of my dogs. I didn't go back the second day. They didn't really need my dogs, and I didn't need to hunt that bad. I was on a great lease on down near Benavides that year.

I still have 2 or 3 spots to fill if anyone is interested. I have one guy toying with the idea. Total of 6 on 4200 acres after Mid Jan.

Chet, Paducah got about 1" earlier this week. First real measurable rain since DEC.
I was out at my place about 3 weeks ago and it was VERY dry. Didn't hear or see a single quail....

It's been along time coming, I think the rain this week in the Rotan area may have been the first since Oct.

Probably so. Unless you count the ice from JAN/FEB....
Funny thing is, the wheat out there still looked pretty darn good.

Was out at my place near Graham early this morning and it was pretty dry out there, but nesting cover looks fair and heard two different cocks calling...better than I thought I would hear
