Found this while turkey hunting in Runnels Co. I have my own idea of what it is but seems large. Would like an expert opinion and some background - what time period, rare or common, etc. thanks

I'm no expert, but the only artifacts I've seen that look like that are large Paleolithic tools... Very rough and unrefined looking. I would guess that is a very large paleo scraper... I'd also like a professional collector's opinion.

Looks like a scraper of some kind. Prolly used to remove fat and meat from skins. That'd be my guess. Could've been one of those 19th century rockin' choppers to make salads and such.

just a spall off of a larger rock. You can still see the platform where they struck it off of the larger piece in the left side of the top pics. No edge finish.
Actually, I looked again, and there is some minor edge flaking along the bottom side indicating it may have been set up as a crude scraping tool. I assume the bottom side is pretty much smooth as it was stuck of the rock. making it a unifacial tool.

Judging by the last picture, my guess is the front part of an axe.
coffee spelled backwards is eeffoc. I don't give eeffoc until I have my morning coffee.

Judging by the last picture, my guess is the front part of an axe. I'm thinking probably not. It's not shaped like the front end of an axe. and if it were a striking tool, it would have most likely broken along the fault line you can see on it; not behind it. I'm thinking crude scraper or even more crude preform. However, I think I was wrong once before about something.
Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes permanent.

Second one is just a broken half of a rough biface, not a finished tool.
