Well, I talked my son into selling his 4-wheeler. So now we are looking for a shotgun for him. We have been looking at the Mossberg 500 Super Bantam. But, wanted to see what you guys suggest he gets.

He is 9 years old. Looking for a full camo 20-gauge pump. Will be used for Turkey, pheasant, dove and quail. Want to buy new. Need to stay under $400.

What do you suggest? Thx!

I dunno how big your son is but this is the one I'm getting my 8 year old for his birthday. Its the Mossberg 510 mini in camo. He's tried the bigger shotguns with the youth stock but they're just too big and heavy for him to really handle. Only thing I worry about with this gun is the recoil since its so small and light weight but to counter that, I'm gonna get him some of the Win-Lite reduced recoil shells.

Thx for the suggestion. I'll check it out.

Also, I noticed that the Mossberg 500 Super Bantom Turkey gun we were looking at has fiber optic sights that can not be removed. Does anyone know if you cam still hunt pheasant, dove, etc with that type of sight instead the regular bead? He will hunt Turkey mostly, but would like to be able to hunt other things as well (without buying another barrel or gun). Thx!

I think you might find a Remington Youth Express in that price range. The Remington will bring more if you sell it when he gets bigger. If you kept it you can buy a full size stock for it later as well.

+1. My dad got me and my brothers one when we were little and he's getting a full stock for it soon, 18 years after the original purpose.

I would love to get him a Remmy. I have one and love it. I haven't seen one that is full camo though, only partial. Does a full camo one exist? Thx!
