I got a 2010 Ranger. It is one year old. Couple weeks ago, it died on me twice at the lease after running for about an hour or so. It would turn over, just wouldn't crank. Let sit for about 20 minutes and it worked. Drove it for about 30 more minutes and it spit and sputtered and died again. let sit for a while and it cranked. Someone said it might be all the dust. I hosed out the radiator and there wasn't much dust there.
Went out again tonight and after about 45 minutes, I stopped and turned it off for about 20 minutes while doing something. Started it up and it spit and sputtered and dies in less than 100 yards. Any ideals.

Does the ranger have a carb? How long has the gas been in the tank?

It has a carburator. I use it all the time so the fuel is not old. It is a 400, which is really a 455cc.

It might be time for a carb cleaning. Sounds like your float might be getting stuck and is not letting any more fuel in.

May be vapor lock too. If you ride it around for a while and it stops again, take off the gas cap and listen as you are taking it off. If you hear it breathe, or take in a sudden rush of air then your fuel cap is bad and needs to be replaced. It will start right up after you let the tank breathe like that and the fuel will flow as normal. Sometimes those fuel caps just go bad and stop breathing like that.

Fuel, air, spark. Need those 3.
Pull spark plug out, leave in boot, hold about 1/16" from a steel ground on motor/utv, crank it over. if you see spark, you have a fuel problem,
it would take a very bad air filter to not make it start,
Put plug back in, spray a small amount of starting fluid in air intake, if it starts and dies, you know it is fuel.
Carb is fairly easy to take apart, harder to get it off motor and unhooked.
Order a carb kit and put it in, not real hard, just take your time. They are fairly cheap and after a year it may need one.
If you get no spark, pm me

I have an ATV that was doing something similar. I had changed the fuel filter and since I could not find the exact match I just replaced with one that had just a little bit bigger can. When it was run at higher speeds it would vapor lock and not start for about 20 minutes. I just put the old filter back on and all is fine.
