Well...I finally made it out for my first solo turkey hunt. I went a long time ago with my dad but don't really remember it.

Got out to my little slice of hunting heaven at about daybreak. Started calling with my little jenny box call and sat for a while. Nothing doing. Beautiful morning. Cool breeze out of the north and the temp was perfect. I switched over to a knight and Hale diaphram call and got it working pretty good...well it least it sounded like a turkey to me.

For some reason, the only thing I managed to call up was about 5 roadrunners. Those things were all over the place. Didn't hear any gobbling; But it was absolutely awesome to be out there. I'll keep working at it. I know they are ther, so I'm not going to give up.

Probably one of the most relaxing things I've done in a while.

It sure can be.

On the flip side, every time one starts gobblin' and struttin' it instantly turns into one of most intense things you can do.

you got that right. Imagine falling asleep after not seeing or hearing anything and the suddenly being awaken by a gobbler trying to find that sweet hen he traveled a long way for.
