Last week was spring break for us and the wife was kind enough to let me take the week off to go hunting. MuskyHunter (Dave) came in from Ontario, Canada to hunt with me and we had a great time. Tuesday we went to DB Hunting Ranch in Bertram and took two pigs by rifle and Dave got one with a knife. for the knife hunt, the guys got the dogs out and we chased hogs for a couple of hours and caught her in the first 15 minutes. it was quite a rush as Dave got in there with that angry sow and took care of business. the other hogs got away as it is really thick there. Wed we headed up to Abilene to varmint hunt with TxVarminter and we ended up taking a nice grey fox that Dave and I ended up shooting simultaneuously since the fox was dead center between our shooting lanes.. (Dave shot a millisecond before me, so i give him the kill) no pictures of this as i forgot to take them. that ended up being all we got due to full moon and 40 mph winds... we took off for Junction after we left TxVarminters place and finally got a bit of sleep. that night we went out on my place and got Dave his first coon and i got my first Ring Tail Cat.. saw two more Ring Tails the next night, bud didnt want to shoot them. Saturay morning was opening of Turkey season, so after watching some red deer calves chase each other around and thru the pond for 20 minutes, a lone tom came cruising thru and he met his demise with my gun... had Dave take the beard, fan, and spurs back to canada to show his buddies how we roll in Texas. this is Dave loving the heat since Ontario was still under a few feet of snow when he left this is a picture of the Kimble county sherrif's office (cool old building) and since water is so unsual with our little drought, i included a picture of bear creek as you head into the ranch. thanks for looking Jay

I didn't think that Turkey season opened until April 2?

My parent's house was just about a mile or so downstream from Bear Creek on the North Llano. I used to fish that whole area. Good times.
