So.... you guys have heard the story, sort of.

Me and Sean went for a hunt this morning. Got down there and the stuff looked nasty, but I hadn't had any problems here lately and with Sean's truck we though we'd be alright.

Obviously we weren't. Sean had to bail and go to work. So I had one of my other buddies go to another buddies work and switch vehicles thus bringing a jeep. We tried for about 2 hours and moved about 1 foot. We even unhooked the trailer from the truck thinking if we could just get the truck out we could hook the chain up to the trailer and drag it out. Now when we left this is what it looked like.

Garrett called me a little later in the afternoon, and said he was on his way! By this time I'd taken my buddy's jeep back, and called my dad to get some shovels. I call G to see if he's there yet... when he then asked me where the boat waswtf

ME: "WHAT do you mean where's the boat?"...
G: "oh sh!t man the boat floated about 100 yds downstream".
ME: "HUH, how? It was on the trailer about 4" out of the water... Where's the water in comparison to my truck?"
G: "What part of the truck?"
Me: "like how far is the water from the tailgate?"
G: "it's touching your license plate!!!"

Now I realize the river had to have risen. A LOT! and we were going to have to act fast before I lost my truck too.

So... here's what we saw when we went back!

Took no problem with Garretts truck. I think we got 'er on the second pull. Then I had to back down again and drag the trailer out with the strap/chain. Then go down the bank and do a death leap from the bank 10' down into the boat.

Luckily there's a little private ramp on the other side of the bridge that the owners let us use to get the boat back on the trailer.

Here's the end result

Hell of a day, and I made it to work by 5:15

Glad yall got it out. Not too happy to see the rising water though.

You should ask the owner of the private ramp for future access.

Garrett talked to the landowner afterwards. I've run into another guy that puts in over there. I went to put in there one morning and the guy confronted me saying it was private and I was trespassing. I never crossed a fence or anything and there are no signs.
Landowner said that they have an agreement. The guy put in a rock ramp for him and not let anyone else use it.

That is one of the better stories I have read in a while.

The river rising, and taking the boat was awesome.

That river does not play around. It can rain a hard 3" 2 hours up the river and flood our whole ranch. And btw, the stanky dux ain't the only ones using the river. The big ducks don't land on it, but they fly down it until they find a slough or lake not far from it for sure!

Dang!

Glad you made it out and to work on time. Great pics!

I think this story tops the FAIL GPS of last year. Who was it, Sptaylor's truck with mud packed into the wheel hubs?

Hope the weekend treats the Platoon better, because if you top this story....well, let's just not think about that.
