My new Remmington 700 R5 Milspec outfited with a Leuopold VX3 4.5x14 and bipod. Just got her last week at McBride's Gun Store in Austin. Has a HS Precision Composite stock, XMark Pro Trigger (adjustable) and 24 " Stainless Bull Barrel. Trigger is set at 3.5 lbs from the factory.

This is my first time to the range shooting A Federal Premium Sierra MatchKing BTHP at 100 yards off the bipod.

The adjustment allows for 2 lbs (3-5 lbs). I have read where some are getting down to 2.5 lbs. May look at lighter trigger option to get down to around 2 lbs. Any suggestions on a trigger?
Thanks.

Jewel is going to win the popularity award for triggers.

For the money a installation ease Timneys are awesome. 1.5-2lbs would be great on that rifle

cool
I have an LTR with a Jewell
my handloads of 165 ABs are putting them in the same hole at 200 yards and .5 at 300

Like the others said, great group but they will get even better as the barrel gets broken in and with handloads could get even better

My LTR is a lifer gun for sure..

I bought this one on the forum and love it!

http://www.texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/1704561/1

loaded some 150 serria game kings and berger 168 VLD's with varget powder and it love them. Both shot a 5 shot group at 100 yards and a dime will cover all of them.

Glad to hear someone is getting some use out of it, I know I wasn't!

Check with Becky at Sporting Arms in Lewisville. Last time I checked she could get them for 1100 or just under.

KC:
I was pretty lucky. Went to look at another Remington or two and the guy behind the counter said he didn't have them but said he had a great gun in the back. Came out with the 5R Milspec and it was love at first sight. Said I'd take it before he got a chance to take it out of the box.

Are you only planning on match shooting with this rifle or any hunting?

Hunting is my primary purpose. Infact, I just took a buck with it last weekend. I wanted a rifle that I could take resonably long range shots on big game (400 yards plus). I do intend to do long range shooting at targets but haven't considered match shooting.
