Is it bad to change the calls in the middle of the hunt? I took it out last night with no luck. I'm looking for a little help on how to use it. Thanks

I tried calling in yotes with mine but failed using the yote locator. So I tried going after foxes and bobcats at the same stand using cotton tail.

With in secounds I had a fox come out.

Guess it all depends?

Changing sounds during your stand will definately increase your odds overall for calling more animals. We will usualy run our first sound for appx. 5 to 7 minutes and then change about 2 to 3 times for the remainder of the stand. Most animals will show up in the first 5 minutes and for every minute after, your odds of calling a predator will begin to decrease as you finish your stand. Changing sounds will give them a variety of different sounds that they could possibly respond to instead of relying soley on one sound. You will be suprised at how many animals will charge the call shortly after a sound change! The only time in my opinion that changing sounds can hurt you is possibly in a case were you have an animal in veiw coming good and then change your sound to something they dont like as much. The odds of this happening still doesnt out way your better odds for a responding predator by changing your sounds after those first 5 to 7 minutes. Also the odds of hurting your stand in a scenario like this drasticly decreases after the first 5 minutes anyway. In other words, after the those first few minutes of the stand, you really dont have near as much risk of hutring your odds by changing sounds. As the odds of calling an animal go down, changing sounds will make them go back up to some extent. Hope this helps

If nothing has shown up after 7 or 8 minutes I might change to something else.

One time we called for about 4 minutes-nothing.
Change sound and immediately 2 stood up in sight. They were laying down in broom weeds. Guess they just liked the other sound better.

There have been many times we changed the sound after several minutes and then had something show up. Like U.P. said, don't think it hurts odds any.

Change is good! Had a lot of success w/ Varmint Al's 16 minute call on my foxpro, it's constantly changing...
