I am attempting to locate a vet in the North Dallas area that will not totally withdraw all of my cash for the rattle snake vaccine. I contacted my vet and he wants a 43 dollar office visit for each of my dogs and then 31 dollars for each shot both times since it requires two shots. I am not about to pay this dude over 200 dollars just to walk in his clinic. If anyone knows who I can contact that would be cheaper than this please let me know or pm me. thanks!

Darn. I would start looking for a new vet. I'd hate to see the charge if something major happen to the dog. Mine charged 15 or 20 for the shot if I remember right. She never charges for a office visit if your just there for shots.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

How close are you to Carrollton? I do not mind driving some for that price.

Is there a vaccine that works for cotton mouths? I was researching the rattle snake vaccine a few weeks ago and read that it doesn't cover cottonmouths which is generally what my dog is most likely to encounter, them and copperheads also.

If I remember correctly, I think the first time you do the vaccine it's a series of 3 shots. After that, it's one a year. Just keep in mind, wherever you do it the first time, you're going to have to go there a few times.
No matter what, it's cheap insurance when you compare it to the cost of the anti-venin.
I want to say my vet is $30 for the annual booster. I don't remember what the initial series was.

Mine is $24/shot I buy them & give them myself. The ones we use, you give 2 shots one month apart, then 1 time a year for a booster.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

I will have the vaccine at the Weatherford Texas Clinic. $20 bucks a pop and you can take the 2cnd with you if you want. Just bring an ice chest so you can go right to the ice with it.

THe vaccine does not cover copper heads. It helps but does not cover them. Water mocs are not covered by the vaccine. I don't believe you have to worry about them anyway. Give them over the counter benedryl (1 25 mg tab) and then give it some time. Watch for infection.
