I shot a hog last week in Junction under one of these lights: http://www.ultramaticfeeders.com/hog.html

Worked great BUT they're a little pricey if you ask me!

I got the one with a recharegable battery and a switch with 3 green LEDs. I did not go with the solar powered on sice I like to move with the hogs. Word has it that hogs cannot see the green light. It lights up an entire feeder pen and I can get a good look through a 3/9 40mm scope up to 150 yards.

I thought of building it myself, but if you have him do it, you can just take it out of the box and use it.

You can get a solar powered light with a motion detector at Lowes for $60 to $70. I got one, but I have not found any red filter material to put on it yet.
