Probably one of my favorite things to eat are golumpkies (said GAWWUMPKIS). Here is the recipe: 1: 1 lb hamburger 2: 2 tbsp garlic powder 3: 1/2 finely chopped white onion 4: 1 clove garlic finely minced 5: 2 tbsp italian seasoning 6: 1 cup of minute rice (cooked) 7: 1 egg 8: 1 can of diced tomatoes 9: 1 sm tin of tomato paste 10: 1 cup of beef boulion 11: 1 head of cabbage 12: 1 tbsp of sour cream In a large pot bring water to a rolling boil. Take the outter (1st) layer of leaves off the cabbage, cut off the stem, and cut an "X" down the inner stem of the head. Place it in the boiling water. Leaves will begin to seperate from the head after about 8 minutes. Take a pair of tongues and pull the leaves out, one by one, and place them on a towel to drain and cool. Combine the first seven ingredients in a bowl. Salt and Pepper to your liking. Open the can of diced tomatoes and add three heaping spoon fulls of tomatoes to the mixture. Combine well. Dump the rest of the diced tomatoes into a seperate bowl, combine with beef boulion water and sour cream. Add a little tomato paste at a time and whisk until mixture is about the thickness of tomato soup. Place one cabbage leaf stem side down infront of you, dollop in two spoon fulls of meat mixture, fold stem up, sides in, then roll. Place in glass casserole dish, fold side down. Repeat this process until you're outta meat and cabbage. Salt and pepper the top of all the rolls. Dump tomato mixture over cabbage rolls. Cover with foil and into a 350* oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Eat your heart out:

That looks great! I'll have to try this one soon.

Stuffed cabbage rolls sounds similar - we leave out the sour cream, boullion and italian dressing or at least that's how my grandmother (Czech/Bohemian) made them.

Looks awesome. Do you brown the meat first.

Looks awesome. Do you brown the meat first. No, it goes in completely raw. The juices and time in the oven cooks it. If you brown it first, it won't bind..plus the egg will do...bad things.

Looks damn good... We make cabbage rolls and stuffed bell peppers with my Ukrainian MIL's recipe using whatever critter meat is in the freezer and the kids can't get enough of them. Hell, I can't get enough 'em... ;-)

No third party hosting site. I know it! One of the best updates to this forum that ever happened. Unfortunately this post is 10 yrs old and the forum didn't have that option back then. I tried logging into my old photo bucket account but they've locked all my photos out unless I pay for a plan.

Try adding some sour kraut to your cabbage rolls, thank me later.

Good stuff! I like to make them with a little more meat mixture folded in the cabbage. You can also add a can of sauerkraut to cook with the sauce for a little more flavor.
