This is not hunting related but my grandad just emailed it to me...That's him last boy to the right...I'll also include the description he sent me. Check out that school bus!

I am attaching a picture taken in probably 1937 of school children who rode Slick Gruhlkey's school bus. Beginning left to right as the faces appear:
1. Glen Fortenberry
2. Frank Fortenberry
3. Roy Fortenberry
4. ? Elton Freeman?
5. Jay Fortenberry
6. Richard Fortenberry
7. Lonella (Fortenberry) Bohannan
8. J. W. Kemp
9. Dorothy (spande) James
10. Freda (Balding0 Gruhlkey
11. Earl Brown
12. Jean (Spande) Ballard
13. Anna Kate (Fortenberry) Bradley
14. Jake Fortenberry

All the Fortenberry boys are my grandad's brothers...funny to see the girls they married rode the school bus with them way back then...folks didn't do much travelin' back then.

I guess we know how Mr. and Mrs. Fortenberry kept busy during the Great Depression. Cool pic.

That fellow in the hat would be the one and only J.W. Kemp...he's still living up there...The dude with the funky hair is now dead. Out of all my grandad's brothers 3 lived there adult life with one arm...two were tractor accidents the third lost his to a pissed off sow after catching a baby pig and not beating her to the fence...

One of them...I think it was Frank was plowing with an old one way plow...back then they'd get the tractor set in the furrow and jump off and the tractor would just keep on course till it got to the bottom of the field...could be hours. He set it on then went to church. When he got back it still lacked a while so he got in the back seat of the car and took a nap. The tractor jumped out of the furrow ran over the top of the car and killed him! How's that for luck!

Adrian, Texas was
where the school was. They lived about 15 miles west of Adrian. The bus
route was nearly 3 hours when my mom was in school...I can't imagine how long it took back then!
