Well, its been a roller coaster road with my mom and stepdad looking for the right peice of property. But finally we found the right place. It is located south and west of Talpa, Texas in Runnels County. Looks to be great deer country and saw lots of tracks and sign. Cant wait to get some work done out there. Definitely some rugged country though. Any suggestions for food plots?

Redtop cane is popular in that area for Spring and Summer. Throw in some milo and sunflowers too. For Fall, go with oats. It's far enough south that they shouldn't freeze out.

Very tough area for food plots. Some years they have a hard time making a wheat crop in that region. My wifes family has a ranch just north of Talpa we tried food plots with no luck. So we started feeding protien from Alderman Caves in Winters. We were able to get some sunflowers and milo up for dove hunting. Good luck!
