So I'm gonna break down and get the 1600 gram 5mm waders from Cabelas...
question is,
does anybody know if there is a pattern of discounts there? Like if I buy them today, I could probably use them the last 2 weekends of the season. But if they are gonna go into a 20-40% discount after duck season is completely over, I might just stand the cold the next few weekends and wait to save $50-60 on the purchase.
Are there any standard patterns to clearance sales for duck hunting stuff?

I don't know about sales, but my brother got his for $30 off. He had a coupon for $20 off and another for $10. Are you on their mailing list?

If you don't have a Cabela's club card get one.
Their website has coupons on it all the time too.

I saw the $20 off on the website but I haven't got any other sale stuff recently... they did an in-store employee discount last weekend but they don't stock anything in my size

Also when you go in there go to customer service, give them your phone number, and they will let you know if there's any discounts available to you.

Screw it I pulled the trigger. I used the $20 off coupon and even if the waders go to $50 off, it's worth the extra $30 for me to be able to hunt them my last 5 hunts of the year. That's only $6 a day and it's COLD!

That's only $6 a day and it's COLD! Now you're using my kind of logic !!! I'll say this, when you are out there freezing your tail off, suddenly you are willing to spend all sorts of money, as in right now, to stay warm ! But sadly, there isn't a display of SuperMag 1600 waders right there beside you to choose from. It's a little different on a single morning's hunt, but when on multi-week trips in the backcountry, it's a whole new type of religion. I tend to be over-prepared.
