Do you ever hear steel bouncing off that barn roof? Looks like it is in prime peppering range! Haha. That would be funny. Sweet pics!
Is that part of a larger waterbody? Just curious about the diver dekes and the dead divers. Looks like a little pond.

Awesome! I guess I did just shoot a canvasback off of the 10 acre pond I hunt, and a pair of ruddy ducks early. And then there are the ringnecks that won't leave me alone!

Great picture on the front of the tractor! Thanks. I've been trying to find some different ways to take pics out there.

That steel shot really opened that one up!
the thing about baiting is, even a rookie hunter could have a 170 bird season if they bait holes

Is that part of a larger waterbody? Just curious about the diver dekes and the dead divers. Looks like a little pond. Oh yea, it gets it's fair share of peppering lol. About the pond. It's the bigger pond on the property we hunt. Not sure of the exact size of it, maybe 3 acres? There is a deeper lil pond, to the left of the hay, that seldom gets any love from the birds. I think I've seen less than a dozen birds on it ever. The small pond and the "upper" fields all run into the bigger pond when it rains alot. Then the bigger pond runs over into a pond across the road from us. There's also a "medium" pond out in the back of the property that usually holds some birds. This property is surrounded by some larger bodies of water that seems to hold a good number of birds throughout the season. Some get hunted on occasion but not very often. There's also a non huntable lake about an 1/8 mile down the road. But back to the divers. There seems to be a good number of divers around every season. And I've seen some divers on some seriously small water. Even when the water is really low like the last couple of seasons we've got good numbers of divers. And I love me some divers. What's funny about the redheads is the hen was shot earlier and she came right into the spread. Then a bit later I was watching for birds and I see a lone duck flying low to the right of the barn. It was funny because he looked like he was flying down the road. I lost sight of it as it went behind our tank dam and was bombing into the pond across the road. Not a minute later here he comes under the power lines and up over our tank dam right into the spread.

We've shot all kinds of divers of off that pond. Scaup, Ringers, Cans, Redheads, Buffleheads, Ruddys, Mergansers and I believe my gf's dad even shot a goldeneye off of it some years back.

Thanks for posting the pics fooshman and congrats on the good hunts. I live in Waco and I've got the opportunity to buy a piece of property here in McLennan County with two good draws that would make about a 5 acre pond if I built a dam between them. It's good to see from your results that these size bodies of water are capable of bringing in some quality hunting around here. Do you know how deep that pond of yours is? Are those dekes at wade depth out there?

Are those dekes at wade depth out there? I'm not sure exactly how deep it gets on the dam end. But I know you can't wade that end of the pond. You can walk about 5 feet from the bank then you start to sink and it drops off pretty good. The decoys are about waist deep in that pic. I'm pretty sure I could wade across the shallow end but there may be some deeper holes that I don't know about and don't want to risk it.
