I am a new member to the THf. I have lived in Harris County now for close to 4 years and have yet to find a place to hunt, fish, or just get outside a shoot a few rounds. I am from South louisiana and have grown up with the luxury of having quite a bit of public and private hunting at my disposal. I am a Wildlife Biologist and truly love the outdoors at evry moment I cam. Was wondering if there was a few wise people that could push me in a direction to take out a few hogs or enjoy some local duck hunting (without paying an amrm and a leg). Thanks to any suggestions you have for I know this is a vague question that a lot of people are faced with.

Welcome to the forum and WHAT HUNTING IN TEXAS HAS BECOME. The average working man is being priced out of the premier hunting areas by rich jerk offs willing to pay 10-20k to shoot a monster that been raised in a pen. Sorry, needed to vent a little.

Might check the outfitters section, there's a few that are not too bad.

Wow! what's wrong with a guy that has money. Most of them that I have met have earned it. The guy paying up to 20K for a deer is not taking any hunting land or opportunities away from you.

You need to get the Annual Public Hunting Permit as it will come with a booklet with every WMA Texas has for hunting. It lists what game is available at each WMA, and if you're in Harris county, you're close to a number of WMAs.

You say you're from south Louisiana, did you know that Louisiana now has a non-resident native Louisiana hunting license? For $15 you can get a 5 day license and hunt in Louisiana.
