found a great natural bow/pistol blind in some rocks at the lease, its elevated and offers 18 to 24 yard shot on a very active deer trail, the problem is that it looks snakey, is there anything I can put down early before the season next year to keep the snakes out that the deer wont smell, I have heard mothballs will work but will the deer be spooked, the snakes are very active at our place Oct thru Nov

Nope-all those so-called "snake repellents" you see on the internet are less than worthless. Mothballs will repel just about anything-but deer will find them more objectionable than snakes! The best thing you can do is clean out rocks, heavy brush and other hiding spots from the immediate surroundings of the blind. No snake likes to feel exposed-plus any that might be passing through will be easy to spot and avoid.

I bet your deer would get used to the moth balls just like anything else.

Mothballs have been proven "NOT" to repel snakes. Like you, I've had the same concerns about the snakes. No one, and I mean NO ONE, hates them more than me. If you figure out a solution please pm me and let me know...

I've heard a handgun with "Snake Shot" does a good job repelling snakes.
Hold your gun straight, and turn your cell phone sideways... when shooting video.

Shooting works fine-Just please learn the difference between beneficial, harmless snakes and the venomous ones in your area. I was recently watching an episode of one of the hunting shows (set in south Texas) where about a half-dozen grown hunters ran screaming from a snake that I could easily see was just a checkered garter snake-and a tiny one at that! It was embarassing I personally just tap the rattlers on the tail with a long stick and they'll slide away pretty quick. They're a lot more afraid of us than we are of them.

I'm sure a lot of hunters will agree with me on this. There is only one kind of good snake, DEAD.
But to answer the original question: Nothing helps really except a clean area. Or you can move your stand to another area.

I'm sure a lot of hunters will agree with me on this. There is only one kind of good snake, DEAD. Not this hunter, nor most of my buddies. To a lot of us, snakes are an interesting part of the environment, and part of our enjoyment of being outdoors. In fact, if you killed a snake on the ranch we hunt, you definitely would not be invited back. Seems the landowner has similar sentiments to my own...

I have actually used diesel in a pump up sprayer to saturate the area. I know snakes will stay away from it and diesel won't evaporate away or dilute as fast as some other things. In my experience, diesel won't spook the deer for some reason. You might give it a try. I would test whatever you decide a good while in advance to see the results. If anything, just hunt that spot when it's cold, then you won't have to worry about it.

Make sure there is no snake holes there and claen the place out. I've also heard a outline of heavy duty grease works well. I have ever tried it though. I do know that if you line out line3 it wth staked down mouse glue trapes they will get stuck in them. I've caught some in my garage with them. I would just do it two deep though for the biger snakes. Just don't catch yourself. LOL.

Might try scorpion poision, its either the chemical or the clay base used in it,similar to oilsorb or cat litter, granular material doesent wash down, ,We set up camp next to skunk/snake coop. on sw hilltop in olney and for several years had few on door step,an inside, catching reflected heat from trailor. After covering area for scorpions noticed drop in snakes sun bathing on it but they stayed close to it, it came from Home depot. Your probaly ok just look around,
