I was wondering. Every year it seems like I see more and more water turkeys. You can go by the dam at the lake I hunt any morning and witness the great water turkey migration. I know they probably aren't worth eatin, but what about the fisheries? Don't they have a huge effect on the baitfish population? I am wondering if anyone thinks there will ever be a water turkey season or if we are just gonna let them take over.

The DFW area hunters that frequent the "L" lakes do their share every year to keep the population in check. Don't know why they think a goose call will attract them though?????? confused2 I think I've heard every variation of a goose squawk, squeal, and honk that a call can make from the Barnz hoping to get them "black geese" to give em' a look on several public lake near DFW!!!!! rofl

Lake Kiowa has a permit to shoot them because of their effects on the fish.

In some circumstances private water operations can request a Federal Cormorant Permit. I would so love to have my foot in the door to help someone out with some cormorant control. It would be fun. Dave and I were at Lake Ray Hubbard recently. I tell you there were thousands and thousands of them across the entire lake there from Bass Pro all the way to the other side. I bet the baitfish and shad on that arm of the lake where wiped out that day.
