I don't have to worry about deer or cows, so i just mix corn, jello and water(don't need the diesel, but have used it some). They have found it in less than 24 hours, and taken as long as two weeks to find it. I keep adding water by the way. As far as flavor of jello, i've used every flavor there is with success.

I dig a post hole about a foot deep, fill it with corn, and pour on a half a 5th of cheap sour mash. I know, "alcohol abuse!!!!" I just use the cheapest rot-gut the liquor store has and it usually smells so bad about all it's fit for is baiting pigs.

All of these recipes are great. However what is a recipe that will keep the coons and other predators for eating it. Tried mixing diesel and corn and something still ate it. I know it wasnt hogs for sure, the trap gate was still up. Any advice would be great.

You might try mustang grapes and some cheap beer. Ive had great luck with it in traps and as standing bait. A burlap sack soaked in red diesel nailed to a power pole works great too, they will come in to rub it.

If you're gonna use a saloon style trap, which i would definitely recommend, i just use a post hole digger to get me a hole at least 2 ft deep near the back of the trap. The slop i use for that is 6 gelatin packs, 3 packets of yeast, 100 pounds of corn, 5 or 6 pounds of sugar and keep a tight lid on it in a trash can once you barely cover the mix with water. I'll usually top off the post hole with strawberry soda mixed with sour mash as mentioned already. You gotta love walking up to the trap and seeing hogs and the 'grenade hole' where the slop was. I'm gonna try the burlap sack idea too---sounds good.
