How many of you guys put goose decoys in your spread when duck hunting as confidence decoys and also to bring in the occasional goose? Saw a post on another thread that they help with pintails, really??

Saw some Canada decoys at academy, they look pretty good, they are like $10 each, I was thinking about buying one or 2 for the fun of it. What would it do for me? I occasionally see some geese fly over, namely snow and speckled belly. Comments????

I like them for visibilty on big water. I have gotten the occasional goose into them. I am not real sure what 2 would do. But you can buy 1 or 2 at a time, and see how many it takes.

Get the Specks your more likely to see smaller groups of them flying compared to snows.

I agree with the Spec decoys... specs are not the brightest birds out there. Easily fooled IMO.

I asked this awhile back and got no answers. shocked

I've put a few to the side of my spread. When I have them out I don't see any geese, but when they are not out there are geese. I pulled them in the other day because I had a feeling they were flaring the ducks, but other days the ducks don't seem to mind lol.

We use both floaters and shells. Look over Carol's right shoulder in the pic ...

This season the water is so high that I had to use extended stakes under the shells to give them the appearance of geese standing in an inch or two of water when in reality it's almost knee deep where they are.

Now that's an interesting idea, trying to fake the ducks out on how deep it is! Alot of times those birds want to be in the skinnny water, but often that doesn't enable a good hiding spot. I like it!

I used to put out 4 floaters, and 12 shells, but got too lazy, so I just stick to duck dekes now...
