I finally got around to uploading some pics from last weekend. This was opening day at a very crowded wma in AR. A local with a faster boat beat us to the hole we wanted so we had to settle for an area with some small holes scattered around in the canopy. The mallards would work and work but only a few actually broke the trees in the decoys. We ended up limiting with a bunch of woodies and a few mallards. This was a very fun hunt none the less. The next day we got an invite to hunt a flooded field outside of Claredon that was supposedly covered in Mallards. Well we broke a lot of ice before daylight and the greenheads showed up. To bad they were all smiling. We passed on them for a few minutes until we realized that was all we were going to see.

Haha, bootlip beatdown! That's about what I've been hearing from AR this season. Yep...looks like its gonna be another "late" season in Arkansas. Mallards are showing up in droves in Mizzou, so Arkansas will get them late in the season again. January is shaping up to be another fine month in the Arkansas duck season.

Par for the course as of late. I'd never do a guided hunt in AR in any month other than January. Well, I'd love to do one in February, but I have a feeling that's never going to hapen. Except one time, when I was younger, the youth weekend was after the regular season, it was on january 31st, and february 1st! So I have legally shot ducks in February, just wish it was every year.
