I gave Daisy a bath last night so she can spend more time in the house in the evenings and for the car ride to our hunting trip this weekend.

Got her two new beds, one for outside and one for inside.

A basted and baked beef leg bone that is almost 3 feet long. I think I'm going to cut it in half with a hacksaw.

A little pop-up dog blind for when I'm in the layout blind

A new vest. He hasn't had to wear one this year but the old one is pretty ragged.

Never have understood getting a dog a christmas present, I guess mine will be hunting with me on Christmas day, that's about all she really wants! Girlfriend gave here a big rawhide bone 3 days ago, and the pup hasn't touched it. I think she's as pent up as I am with the split, we didn't get our weekly hunts in!

Check out the Avery Finisher dog blind. Folds up in 2 seconds, and is extremely small. I love mine

Haven't decided yet, but Tuit is gonna need a vest, they both have their own kennels, dog beds (new) collars (new), and they live in the house...no baths till after the season.

Maybe a new swimming pool...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always heard that giving them a bath would wash away their natural oils that helps repel water and keep them warm, so it's best to wait till after the season. Don't know if its just a myth or not.

I do not think it is a myth, I see it with my own eyes. After every hunt, I spray my dog off after the hunt outside with the water hose to get the mud and all off. If I use shampoo (which I also try not to do during hunting season), I can tell a huge difference how her coat holds water, and much harder for her to shake water off. And just rub your hand thru their fur after they get wet, and you can really tell a difference, at least I can with my dog.

That being said, I don’t think it takes them long to get those oils back into their coat. But really fresh water does the trick to clean and lab, even if they smells. My little girl likes to wash my dog, so what can you do there! grin

I washed my dog during the split because she is/was going to be inside the car with my family on a 5 hour trip. Momma said she stunk and needed a bath.

I think I did it early enough to get some of that oil back on there. If not, I can rub her down with mink oil. smile

My three came in the house last night. Long story, but it started with them scratching at the door and my wife convinced they were cold. They moved to kennels in the garage but their whining kept us awake. Kennels moved to the entryway of the house; more whining. They ended up in our bedroom and they slept the rest of the night away. Serious stink times three. It was not a pleasant morning.

wow, all I do is hose em down, or take them to the lake to romp around to get the mud off and clean up (sallysue showed me that trick).

No smell at all once they dry up..

They stay in the house at night, at the foot of my bed in their kennels

Same here! I don't like giving her baths during hunting season, takes all those oils out of her coat, she dries alot faster without.
