I love a good Water Turkey. smile

I really do appreciate the opinions, good or bad smile
With all the different brands, and models in the same brand, I know there must be a lot of favorites, and "hate 'ems".

I do, but I dont know what you guys think of the real ones ! smile
Really, I put a lot of faith in y'all smile

I am going to buy some, just havent got around to it.
The only modern I had, I lost the reed.
All the rest of my calls are in the same way, just parts of older calls.

If you really want to do this, you've got a loooong way to go. It's tough to make something that you aren't familiar with. To create your own duck call is a long process. I wouldn't mind stopping by and giving you some pointers, I hunt up in your neck of the woods. I've been making calls for 6 years, and it takes a passion for ducks, and the sounds they make. You have to know exactly what noise your looking for, and that's not really even close.

I can't make the pic show up right, but here's a shot of my calls.

I agree. Way too small. What's the diameter on the barrel? Sounds like a combination of tiny reeds (like on most predator calls) and not enough air getting to the reeds. I.e. I put my hand around a ducks throat and choked it while it tried to quack.

Also, what kind of reeds are you using? They sound stiff (maybe because they're short?)

Reed is actually typical in length, for duck calls. But I am really sure the size of the opening thru the stopper is too large.

duckboy007, I know who you are on CCO. I sent you a PM there earlier this evening.

It would be a treat to have you come over. I also have some small stock tanks we could hunt, if that interests you.

Sure appreciate all the help everyone.
Like a good turkey call, these are the musical instruments of nature smile

That sounds awesome. I've only got one pond that I've been hunting, I'd love a change of scenery. I just moved down here this summer from AR. I'm still getting everything set up here at my new apt, I have a garage that is going to be turning central once I get the chance. I work near the tollway and george bush, maybe we'll meet up here in plano? Or next weekend up at your shop? I'll pm you my cell.
