What time was it when you killed your largest buck ever?......
Mine was killed 15 minutes into the season in 2006.
I am just curious as to what others are, I have heard alot of people say they see big mature deer around noon.

Dang everybody being secretive. I killed my largest on an opening day morning 2002 around 8:15 in Blanco county. Missed my largest Thanksgiving morning 1982 around 7:00am

Same for me right at daybreak on opening morning in '06. If I remember right that was a pretty cool calm morning.

Umm, you might not want to be that honest, though that would be the correct answer for alot of the "neighbors" around my place.

My biggest was killed at 7:15am, but I've shot other big deer in the middle of the day. The biggest I've ever seen have both been mid-day. One after I'd already burned my tag for the year and the other while driving back to my stand to get something I had forgotten.

. I believe you are correct...... Best I remember it was in the low 50's where I hunt in callahan county and no wind.

i think the consensus would be to kill a deer on opening day, thats when MOST of the big bucks are killed in the state.

There are a ton of place, South Texas included, where you likely won't even see the bigger bucks until the rut starts in December-January. One of my buddies has a place and you'd swear it was completely barren of bucks until it starts and then they're running everywhere.
