REALLY I SIMPLY HUNT BASED OFF THE PATTERNS I HAVE SEEN, IF THEY HAVE NOT BEEN HIT HARD THEY WILL USUALLY COME TO SAME AREA FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. MAINLY AT NIGHT WITH SPOTLIGHT AND EARLY MORNING. ALSO THIS TIME OF YEAR THE ACORNS ARE DOWN BIG TIME. SO THEY MIGHT BE STAYING IN THE WOODS. GOOD LUCK

So you think we should try baitin near the woodlines or just cit with a good view of it and wait? Would it be pretty useless to try and bring em out of the acorns and onto what I want em to eat

If you find a trail that they have been using consistently and recently, I would set up near the trail with a spotlight. Without much preparation that has been the best method I've used.

Well it happens, family is all 4 hours away and the place we usually hunt has never had hogs. When you go out on a pecan orchard with a pass from the game warden and kill 5 or 6 deer a day you dont really care about gettin a hog. So if I aint what you call "country" I really couldnt care less. Bein "country" aint a contest big guy

Probably a good time to lighten up here, folks. Comparing & criticizing "credentials" really belongs back on the playground, and can't go anywhere but an idiotic "oh, yeah?".

Find their trails, i don't know the terrain so I'm guessing there are some open areas. if you can find an open area near the trails, dig a hole about 2-2 1/2 feet deep with post hole digger. Layer corn and jello powder almost to the top. then poor water to the top, and put some of the dirt back on the top few inches (i always leave the dirt kinda loose). if the pigs are there, they will find it. i've done this mid afternoon, and returned the next morning to see the hole completely dug out.

Not a bad idea to contact your local game warden and let him know where yall will be spotlighting. Might save you an embarrassing moment

Might save you an embarrassing moment just call the number on the back of your hunting license and let them know(dispatch). if game warden gets a call he checks with them to see if anybody has called in, so he doesn't have to get out of bed for nothing

Not a bad idea to contact your local game warden and let him know where yall will be spotlighting. Might save you an embarrassing moment Learned that lesson young... I was hunting coons as a kid, using a Spanish surplus Astra 600 I'd just bought (for $30, no less!). I'd cleaned the bore, loaded her up, and when I heard the coons, I hit the lights on the tractor, took a bead, and pulled the trigger. Emptied the magazine (full auto), with the last couple of rounds up in the trees. Game warden showed up pretty quick, and asked me what the hell I was doing. Told him I'd just gotten the gun, and he took it, looked it over, and told me to watch as he field stripped it and proceeded to wash all the hardened cosmolene from the action. It had hardened so bad that the sear was literally locked in the disengage position. He told me to be sure and let him know next time I was gonna be hunting at night, so he wouldn't think I was a poacher. Ever since then, I make sure either the game warden or the sheriff's office knows when I'm going to be out at night.

I think they get the idea when you tell them who you are, and the property you will be hunting on. Vs just calling in and saying that you are hunting county road 411 and 417.
