It is legal, however, it could lend itself to some "duck-stomping in the mud" for lighter ducks due to heaviest limit. Not sure how any of you feel about it.

I think it would be fun, all but the public land part!

I think it's a bad idea as well. I don't agree with the whole "lets put up a cash payout game for killing stuff" idea. Defeats the entire purpose of hunting IMO and just gives anti-hunting groups more ammo.

I am sure some of ya'll are ready the thread on fuge...

But It is apparent that they don't have permission from some of their "sponsors" and that several lawsuits are obviously in the midst...

I don't like the part of "Paying"

And as for the competition, I think there will be a lot of unneccessary birds floatin' and stomped in the mud with people trying to "win"...

It is one thing to have a "fun" challenge, but another when "MONEY" is involved...

I think it is a bad Idea!

Bad idea. I would not want to be involved with that organization in any way.

One of the things I like about the one we have here is it is just for fun, an excuse to get more people to post pictures.

I'm not seriously trying to beat anyone except what I did last year.

Hope the game wardens bring in some reinforcements that weekend...

I for one think it is a bad idea. But the difference between me, and many others is. If it is legal I am not going to get on a public forum, and yell the sky is falling. Bad idea yes, and if majority thinks it is a bad idea then it will not succeed. If anyone has a real beef with it write the TP&W, and the United States Fish & Game Authority as far as that is concerned. This subject was brought up once before on this forum, and was locked down. Because of all the bickering. Thats just not what it is about to me.

Now the competition in the blind to get my guyn up faster than the guy standing next to me. Now that is some serious business.

im not 100% opposed to it, provided it is done right. Im sure there will be some yahoos stomping duck in the mud, but that is on the hunter.

There is probably more downside to it than upside, but I honestly, if there was one in my area, I would probably participate in it, just for the hell of it.

Just curious if $6500, winner take all, would get anyone to mud stomp a Pintail, that in all likelyhood otherwise wouldn't....kinda makes you go HHHMMMMM.

"To the Texas Duck Hunting Community,

Due to the recent feedback and miscommunication between sponsors and event coordinators, Texas Quack Smacker LLC will no longer be the title sponsor in the 2010 Quack Smacker Tournament.

It has come to our attention that the person who approached us with this idea had the best of intentions and sponsors to go along with it. As we slowly found out this individual had almost none of the sponsors he had promised us.

We would like to formally apologize for the events that have transpired over the last two months. We never thought that a little competition between hunters would get so out of hand.

We would also like to apologize to any company that has been put through any trouble due to this event.

Texas Quack Smacker"

More developments have arose since this. Doesn't look like there was a "person" who approached them. In fact, they are just trying to cover their tracks.
