Those are nice, saw some like them at a show once. A person could probably build one. Sure would make life easier.

All the new feeders that I am building are crank up feeders. Crank em down to fill em and then crank em up. Easy as 123. The only drawback that I've found so far is that they cost a little more to build.

You could do like my father in law does. He has me fill up the feeders and take care of all the maintenance on the propoerty for my lease fee. I think it is a great trade and will do it for him anytime. I am not griping at all but that is a way to get it done.

those things are super easy to build. i've even used electric blowers if you've got a power converter. all you need is a hopper seal off your blower and a long hose to reach the feeder nothing to it!

As short as that feeder in the video is, a step ladder would have been much quicker, plus there were two guys so one could hand the other the bag. That speed feeder doesn't look so speedy.

I have seen the larger hoopers you can put in the bed of your truck, fill with a few hundred pounds of corn, and drive from feeder to feeder filling them up.

fact is you've still got to climb up take the lid off and stick the hose in. The climbing and the lid are the time consuming parts anyway

Just go to Walmart and buy a boat winch and a pully and mount the pully up top and the winch to one leg of your tripod or tree. I have tripods built out of 1 1/2 emt conduit set up this way with 55 gal drums. They feed between 2 to 3 months and are easy to operate.

We went with the winches and pulleys. One person can go out and fill all the feeders by themselves without having to do any climbing. Besides, I don't care what Newton says about the law of gravity, if you fall off of a ladder while carrying a bag of corn, your gonna hit the ground about 1.5 seconds before that bag hits you. We also were able to cut down on our feed useage by putting wire cages, with bottoms around the spinner to keep the coons and squirrels off of them.

i googled this on the net, i am the speedfeed guy. it can be dusty if the corn is dusty. the feeder in the video, and sorry for the poor digital video, is 500 pounds, do that by 10 is easy math even for a texan. it just makes it easier so we can spend our energy on more important things. like the wife.

one more thing, if it is so easy to build one, build me one and if it delivers like mine, i will buy it. as far as the crank system easy when empty, a different story when full. have you ever seen a broadcaster survive when the barrel and 350 pounds of feed land on it? If you dont care for a great idea that saves time and labor..... well keep climbing the ladder until youth passes and then look for my toll free #

Okay, welcome to the forum, and while I can appreciate your pride in your product, not all of us are fortunate enough to have the ability to get that close to our feeders. No one is saying your idea/product is bad, they are just pointing out why it would or wouldn't work for them. As far as I can tell, no ome is picking on you, they are just giving reasons as to why they don't use it.

I agree that paying someone else is the "EASY" way to fill a feeder!

I have used what I believe was called a seed vac it was on a trailer and held 2 tons of corn. It worked really good because we were filling about 30 corn feeders at a time. The biggest drawback is that some of that bulk corn is really dusty. For just a few feeders i just back up until I bump into the feeder legs and get out and fill it with sack corn. I dont like all the cranking up and down...I have used some of those and they take longer for me. This is all my opinion from my experience. Everyones situation and preferences are different.

It's a great idea but wouldn't work on about half of mu feeders, because I need all the space in my Ranger to ferry corn into canyons. If I hunted on flat south texas plains instead of canyons it would be a great investment for a group of hunters. Merry Christmas to all from Del Rio Texas!!!!!

I also fill the feeders at our ranch in. Father-in-law pays for everything, so filling the feeders is my job. This year, I mentioned the feeder feeder, and he bought me one. If you are only filling one or 2 feeders, it isn't worth the money or effort to haul the thing around.

We have 7 feeders now and will likely add another 1 or 2 for next year. Filling them by yourself in one day makes for a tiring day.

Most of our feeders are the boat winch crank-up type deals. I built a new one this year using a band around the middle wwith 1 inch square tubing stub legs and slightly larger tubing in 8 foot lengths to give it the right height. I bought one of those slightly oversized galvanized lids, and a lid lifter deal that is basically a handle to raise and rotate the lif from the ground.

No ladder is needed (but I carry one just in case).

Over the next season or 2 I'm going to convert all of our feeders to this new type.

MELackey do yourself a favor Please if you are going to use a winch feeder (Most of our feeders are the boat winch crank-up type deals) please use a brake winch.
