Very cool trophies without a doubt. That Eland is a massive beast. How long is the Sable, he looks 43"+? Well done sir, cheers

Very nice. How was Mozambique? Did you feel safe there? Did you bring a wife or anybody that you might have worried about their safety? How about getting there? I've priced flights and it seems like quite an ordeal.

Thanks guys. The sable was right at 39". We didn't have a way to weigh the eland. They "average" 1100-1300lbs, with a max of a ton. I think this boy was pointing towards a ton.

We didn't take the wives; just me and a friend. We felt perfectly safe, but you really have to want to see a different country besides South Africa, Zim, or Namibia to hassle with the travel. It's a hassle for the PHs to get there too; there aren't a lot of Mozambican PHs. (Mostly Zim and South Africans operating the hunting concessions in Moz.) We finally wound up flying in and out of Pemba, Moz. Air charter to the camp and drove from the camp to Pemba at the end of the hunt. The drive was an education. The country is definitely more 3rd world than Zim, S.A., or Namibia. And, we got to see up close and personal the Chinese raping the hell out of the land (timber and pretty much any other natural resource worth hauling back to China). The beach in Pemba is beautiful, with nice hotels along it, but literally across the street people are picking through huge trash piles. Really bizarre.

Short perspective story: I wound up with a full box plus 15 rounds of .338 going back. It took the "police woman" at the airport 3 tries to count to 15. Of course, she was flirting with the male policeman the whole time (SOP). Then she had to add 15 to 20. Thank goodness we had a lady that was a friend of the outfitter standing there with us, explaining things to the police and pushing them along (and helping with math). We still missed our flight out of Jo'burg home and had to arrange to stay the night at Africa Sky (highly recommend) in Jo'burg before heading home the next day. Not because of clearing guns, just some other random reason that our plane arrived hours late to take us to Jo'burg.

I doubt I'll return to Moz, but it was cool to see.

Thanks for the information. I guess it will all come down to price. I really like the idea of going on a buffalo/sable hunt where they are not inside a fence, but then I get cheap and wonder why. Seems like there have been some good prices on them in Mozambique, but with that lower price comes a much higher degree of uncertainty.

Very nice mounts, congratulations.
That Eland is a beast and I am sure he hit the ton mark!
Mozam is a special place. Thanks again for sharing the pictures.
