Hit with a ugly stick?
"It is the same boiling water that softens the rice, which hardens the egg." It's not always about the circumstances, but what you are made of....

Oglapicyra. It's a rare infection found in the nostrils of some mammals.

I have had half my bid herd of 4 Mouflon Ewes had this happen to them. The first was about 4 years ago. She died. This one started it about 3 months ago and I found her dead yesterday. At first I thought it might be Blue Tongue. But after seeing her up close I have no idea. Seriously does anyone have an idea what it is or causes it? Have never seen it on deer, goats or cattle.

contact A&M, would be where I would go first I have already spent quite a bit of money sending stuff to A&M to find out why animals have died. Still do not know anything. And yes they charge even if they don't know.

If you have the stomach for it, cut that open or peel the flesh around it. See if this is a skin lesion or if this came from subcutaneous or possibly deeper. Should be able to tell if it came out of the nasal passage or not. Might be something common that they rubbed their face against, possibly got poked on, and started an infection.

I did not cut it open but you could see it had gone into the sinus. The complete nose was swollen and stuff dripping out of the nostrils. Got to a point where it effected her eating. She was very wild so could not catch her to doctor.

Necropsy from a local wildlife veterinarian should diagnose it I would think. Good luck..
