I have a Nissan Frontier with a topper. The first couple of years of deer hunting, I would kneel inside the truck, and pull the deer in. It was not easy. The first improvement was sliding the deer on a board that I used as a ramp. It was still a hassle. I finally bought a "hitch hauler" that goes into the receiver hitch. It was about $60.00. This works great, and keeps the truck clean. I then gut the deer while it on on the hauler, and avoid a sore back from bending over. The hauler has a wire mesh base, so the deer can be drained off the ground, and driven to the meat pole at camp. If you don't have a topper, this is not such an issue, but if you are by yourself, it really makes a difference. On another note, I have also used this with a Nissan Versa.

I love mine... although it is a necessity since I hunt out of a 4Runner.

How many deer are there? I'll bet it steered easily.

Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

Since I usually hunt by myself I bought a hitch hoist rated to 500 lb. Used it once to pick up a 300 lb. pig, worked like a champ!

Hitch Hoist

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, beer in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.

Seven on there - all does, no fawns. Annual doe hunt that we do. That was before my air shock mod, so we rode on the bump stops all the way to the lodge. It was rough...
