Just purchased my first set of decoys and slate call. I hunted turkey a few times as a kid in Western N.Y. but have never tried for any birds here in Texas. hopefully I can get out this spring and bag my first bird!

I will likely head up to LBJ grasslands and have a go at it. next thing to figure out is which overpriced ammo do I want to use in my +50 year old Remington Gas operated Semi-auto.

Longbeard XR by Winchester are getting some good reviews, and not overpriced.

Federal Premium #5s, 3 inch have been great for me.

I use these: http://www.federalpremium.com/products/details/shotshell.aspx?id=413

Their Flite-Contol wad seems to tighten patterns and its 2 ounce loads.

Winchester high brass #5 has worked very well in 12 and 20.
All my shots have been within 40 yards. Every bird has been DRT.

Your eyesight starts getting weaker but your ability to
see through people's BS gets much better.
