If anyone has been on a guided hunt with K&L Outdoor Adventures, you probably sat around his old 48" tractor wheel the night before the hunt to take in the camp fire and watch your steak cook. Kyle with K&L got his by chance and doesn't know where one could be found. Anyone have any idea where I could find an old used 48" or larger rear tractor wheel/rim? They make for a great fire pit and grill. ETA: Picture of the tractor wheel fire pit-grill.

There are tractor salvage yards in Lubbock and Wellington, Tx. I'm sure there are more but those are the ones I know. Google it.

If you can't find one of those, go to a truck stop and ask around for a wheel with a split. They aren't quite as deep, but that could work to your advantage. I built a bunch of firepit/grill combos out of them in high school, they were easy to make and worked great. Weld up the cutouts with 1/8 plate, then cut a piece to fit inside the lug plate on the bottom. Blow holes to match the lugs, weld a piece of bar on the plate, and you can use it to regulate airflow.

There's a tractor salvage @ Cransfills Gap, Bosque County http://www.gaptractor.com/ That would make a great pit.

I don't think tractor wheels are that wide. I think that is a log skidder wheel. I have seen several made out of them localy. Your best bet on finding one would be to find a logging contractor or skidder sales and service center.
It could be uh law I dont no. Yall have uh good un

Thanks everyone for their suggestions/feedback. 36" tractor wheels are around 15" wide and 46-48" tractor wheels are typically 18" wide, which will work perfectly for our deer camp.
We have a couple of leads, but if anyone knows where we can find a used one in the DFW or north-central hill country area, I'd appreciate the referral.

Check your local tractor companies and tractor refurbish companies. If not go online and shop. One other place to look is ask around at a farmers co-op.
