So I did some scouting in a new area over the weekend and found where the hogs had tore up the ground so I put me pipe there. Some of the destruction and the perfect PIG SNOUT impression that was about 3' across High traffic entry View to where I will put some sort of a blind.. 65yds to the far side. I may just put a chair in the bushes for now.

Its got corn in it and just a couple holes just big enough to where a kernal falls out as they roll it around. Pigs stay on it for a while rolling it in circles to get the corn out. great setup!!!.. kill them pigs!!!.....

I have pics of a single hog rolling my other pipe for more than 5hrs one night and about 3 the next. I always toss some rocks in there to so they think there is still corn in it even when it is empty.

You'll be on 'em in no time. Looks like you could use some rain, though...

It rained about 3 weeks ago and half and from about 6a till after noon this past saturday. The ground is sandy and dry so it soaks it up like a sponge.

any special instructions to it?? Do deer fool with it also? I am considering leasing a place but don't want to tie up any money in feeders... Public land and I'm sure anything that looks decent will be stolen... These pipes would be just the ticket I think.. Thanks for any tips...

Thanks for any tips... any large PVC pipes will do Tip: don't drill too many holes in it,they will empty it in no time, hole should be just enough for a few kernels to fall out. I say 5 holes max 2. stout chain on PVC cap , attached to T Post and drive T Post into the ground

This is really, really good advice. I received it the first time I built a pig pipe but I found it impossible to follow for some reason. If you don't follow this advice the result will be building a new pig pipe when you get tired of filling it every time you check it. I would add that you should make the holes smaller than you think they need to be. The idea is to only let one kernel out at a time. If you look at the pipe and think "No way are there enough holes in this thing and all of them are too small" then that's perfect, don't do anything else to it. Keep in mind that the pig can smell the corn in there really loud and clear. Have you ever walked into your house and thought "Wow, someone cooked bacon in here and there's no doubt about that!" Well, the pig gets a whiff of the corn in that pig pipe on a breeze while he's a mile away and gets an olfactory sensation of about the same intensity that you get from a house full of bacon vapor. If all he has to do to get a bite of corn is just roll a PVC pipe around, he'll do that for hours and think it's the easiest meal he's had in weeks. Don't forget that he'll plow up a cubic yard of mud and dirt just to get a half-mouthful of grubs; rolling that pipe should seem like a lot less work. You can always enlarge existing holes or add new ones, but unless you have one of those bits that pulls the edges of a hole in PVC together the reverse is not so easy.

I have 4 half inch hole and that is to much. 2 would keep the corn in longer. They will empty mine in under a week

You are better off going to a real hardware store rather that HD or lowes. The big box may not have the right swivels and you local Ace may already have the pipes cut to 5'. The cap...... Get a couple of extra just in case they bust the bolt out. Drill the hole to big for the bolt so that it stays loose and act as a swivel as well. The washers I used are to small on this one. You want as big as will fit in the cap. DOUBLE (jam) NUT THE EYEBOLT to keep it from coming unscrewed. CHAIN..... Does not need to be heavy duty but you need more than a dog chain. Wal Mart has a chain that is 20' long for about $18....the same as I have in the pic. I cut mine at 5ft and I think it is to long. I may shorten one of mine to 3ft and see how it works. I prefer the QUICK LINK over the LAP LINK that is more permanent and harder to remove. Swivel.... They make a nice shiny one that is about $7, same as I have in the pic...DONT GET THAT ONE. They busted it on my first pipe. Get the plain looking one. It is $10-$12 but heavier duty. The pipe... 6" pvc at 5ft long. This has been a good size but it is mostly a personal preference. GLUE the end caps or they can get knocked off. I made 4 at one time and this is the one I havent used yet. That works out because I have pics of what not to use. I have ungraded the 2 active ones on the lease. I dont know that deer will roll them around but they will come to the smell of the corn. I have several pics of deer at this pipe.

I am definitely stoked about it. The area is a clearing with 2 80yd (+/-) shooting lanes. One pointed south the other to the east from my stand. It has a 20ft deep gully along one side and the rest is surrounded with thick brush, mesquite, cedar and oaks. Has lots of trails and signs. I am headed back out there this week to check the camera and pipe. I will also be putting up a feeder on the south facing lane. Top of the pic is north The clearing to the west is where the pigs have plowed and area that is about 60' across.
