I've got a guy that is wanting to do some trading on a hunting buggy that I have for sale. He sent me this info on a rifle he has. I don't know enough about them to know what the package is worth. I will let the local gurus educate me. This is the email as he sent it......

Magpul Ctr adjustable butt stock, Red x upper with aluminum quad rail w/ covers, chrome heavy barrel threaded w/ flash suppressor, chrome bolt carrier group, custom don't tread on me dust cover, smith & Wesson lower with contoured grip with battery storage, Nikon monarch 4-12x40 scope with nikon p-series mounts, Burris fast fire 3 reflex red dot sight with 45degree mount, magpul flip up iron sights, surefire scout light with led and IR for night vision goggles, fab defense mag well grip, magpul forward grip, 1000 rounds of 5.56 ammo. 2 gun tactical case with numerous magpul mags, surefire 60 round mag. Combat single point sling, bipod, armors tool, and a few other misc accessories. I have over 4k in this gun, ammo, & accesories.

Let me know what you think, and thanks for the help!!!

He may and probably does have 4k in it. I personally could never see paying 4k for an AR, any AR for that matter.

Maybe 4k when the gun scare was going on, I think that's phasing out hopefully.

I would put that package anywhere between 1250-1750 depending on the ammo and number of mags

Not sure how much it is in bulk, but the ammo right now he has listed is between $400-$500.

It's a mutt rifle with a bunch of middling-grade tacticool accessories. I'd value the package at $2K, tops.

Lower = 300
Upper + BCG = 500
Doodads = 200
Scope + Mount = 200
Red dot = 200
Ammo = 500
Case = 100
Mags = 200
Sling, bipod, tools = 200

Total = 2400

This is a rough estimate of what you could build this package for brand new. I don't know where he's getting 4000? I'd say in today's market, and being used it's worth about 2000.

I have a hard time seeing 2K in this package, much less 4K. I don't doubt your friends word at all, but he is buried in this unit.

Thanks for the help. He was stuck on his price and didn't really like my price I gave him. We were unable to make a deal.

That's good. That rifle won't shoot any better that the $700 models you can buy new at a store.

That's his fault for paying over $4,000 in accessories which provide nothing since the rifle doesnt need much but optic and ammo. "Numerous magpul mags" can mean he has two P-Mags, but unless you're in a state where the 30-round mags are banned you shouldn't pay $10 for used p-mags.

IMO if you spent over $4,000 on an AR it better be a LWRC, Noveske or LaRue all in 7.62 with a nice Trijicon, Nightforce etc...

That is a cheaper than dirt special. There is nothing special about that rifle and its far from 4000$. Just a bunch of crap thrown together

Don't do it

Sounds like he bought during all the panic buying and now he wants to get his money back. There's probably thousands like him who are now upside down on their AR's.

Good grief with all that crap on there that gun must weigh 20 pounds.. Hell if you want a 20 pound 4K gun buy you a Barret 50cal. Although there are some expensive accessories listed he would get more out of them selling them piece by piece than trying to sell them all with the gun.

I wouldn't give over $700, I don't see the hype in the AR craze, I would rather have a nice looking weapon with a nice wood stock than one that looks like it belongs in the toy department of Walmart. up
