My teal season had been so so thus far, until this morning. Made a few calls last night and had a plan for this AM. Met one buddy at his house, switched my gear to his truck then picked up another on the road. Once we arrived at our destination it was 3 minutes til legal, no one was in our spot (dang I love private, even though I don't get to hunt it much) made the walk down the hill thew out some decoys and the birds were starting to filter in. I was still trying to get the mojo put together on the bank when the first shots were fired. This continued until the fifth bird was down. I did sneak in one shot to assist on a winged bird. Birds were coming in by 1s and 2s, once the first group of four showed I was in on the action, though it wasn't our best showing of the morning. 6 birds down. A few more groups worded in by the 4s and 5s now the count was 9. We thought to ourselfs one more good size group and we can leave. Sure enough a group of 4 slid over our head high and fast, one whistle and a quack and they were headed right at us (I'm sure they would have come in anyways) wind at our back and in their face. I remembered to yell out "we only need three", Then a few loud cracks from the gun and bam 3 birds down and a 3 man limit. If my guess and count was right we had 21 birds this morning and killed 12. Not too bad for 35 minutes. Oh and after cleaning birds 7-9 yards shots to the face does a lot of pre-tenderizing.
