Has anybody made one? My buddy made one out of wood last year for the nut deep water we were hunting and it worked great. I'd like to see what yall have made, especially ones suitable for the walk in hunter.

If I'm on private land, I will try to build semi-permanent ones where ever I can, it's the only thing i build, no blinds. If walk in or boat in, I use my bottom half of my treestand.

built one this past summer but didnt use it this year...made the frame from 1 3/4 inch PVC but couldnt find any 45* angle joints for the legs so i got 60*'s....its not real stable...gotta do a little more work on it during the offseason...on the plus side, im only into it $45.
ps, i know this thread is worthless without pics.

Here you go fellas. I can't take all the credit for the write up as it was posted on another forum I frequent, but I did change a few things that I felt would improve the original design. These are my instructions with original pictures attached. I have built one and can attest to the fact that it is VERY effective. When I get a chance to run over to the boat storage, I will take a few pics of mine. If the cut list is a little more dough than you were looking to spend you can cut a few things out and save a little. The caps, turf, and marine grade plywood are all optional. Cutting those materials out could get you under $30. If you decide not to use the marine plywood, I would STRONGLY suggest not using a pressure treated plywood if you have an aluminum boat. The chemicals used now to treat the wood will react with the aluminum and corrode it fairly quick. The caps are used to keep mud out of the legs. Don't worry about the leg retaining water since you will be removing the legs for transport. Materials $50: - 3/4 marine 2x2 plywood - $15
- Brown astroturf - $10
- (4) 2" PVC tees cut at an angle - $10
- (8) 5/16" x 3" bolts, washers, and nuts - $5
- 10' stick of 2" PVC - $5
- (4) 2" PVC caps - $5
Directions:- Spray the entire decking with Thompson's water seal.
- Cut the astroturf to fit and used some spray adhesive to glue to decking and secure with staplegun on the bottom side.
- Attach the cut tees to decking and secure with bolts. Be sure not to use an extreme angle as more angle takes away from the rigidity of the legs and you chance colapsing the stand with a heavier dog. I personally used about an 80* angle. This keeps the stability so it won't tip over and keeps the platform rigid.
- Cut (4) 2" PVC legs to 24-36" each. Anything more than 36" really starts to compromise the rigidity of the legs. The longer the legs, the closer you need to stay to a 90* angle with the tees
- Spray the legs and tees with flat black spray paint. I would recommend using Krylon Fusion because it is designed to bond to plastic and will last longer. If you can't find a flat black in the Fusion then spray it with whatever color you can find as an under coat and finish it with a flat black of any brand.
