SCI Scoring Aoudad Rams?

On the SCI scoring sheet if refers to using the "3-inch rule" and directs you to the scorers manual. I have a 30" plus ram I would like to do an "unofficial" scoring on. Also the ram is so massive the two horms have grown together at the skull. How is that handled? Thanks in advance if you can help.

I just had this done last night on my ram. He was 32" on each horn and scored 132 7/8" officially. Where the two horns almost come together at the top of the head is where you start. From the bottom edge of horn at that point (ridge of head), measure up three inches along top ridge of horn and make a mark. Then, with the skull facing you, start at the horn where it sorta dips down on the animal's brow. Measure from that point, up to the three inch mark, then along the top ridge of the horn all the way down to the tip. That is your length. Divide the length by four (this is for you mass measurements). Start at base of horn and measure mass. Go up 1/4 of the way and measure mass, and so on. You'll have three mass measurements....1. Base. 2. 1/4 up. 3. 1/2 up. 4. 3/4 up. Do this for each horn, add it all up, and that is your score. No deductions. Good luck.
My ram had great length but lacked in mass. If he would have had the mass I've seen in other rams of his age class, he would have easily made gold class and the top 100 SCI. They told me today he would rank around 122 on the books for rifle hunting. If you need more help.. call SCI 520-620-1220. Ask for Michael, he's a good guy.

Good info. We took 2 33 inch rams with nearly 15 inch bases. I might need to get them scored!

Definitely. Those will make gold medal class easily. They will both rank in the top 100 for sure. The scoring is free. You'll have to find a scorer near you. It will cost around $80.00 to have it processed, entered in the books, and receive your medallion.
