45" Axis

had a guy in my office yesterday, said he had free roaming axis with some that would tape out at 45-47 inches in Sonora.

Thoughts?

My guess it Nope he doesn't!

Maybeeeeeee because I seen a few that will deff break 40 inches on my place but 47 idk about that

However there are a lot of big animals taken every year that are never reported or recorded in the record books.

Make him an offer to shoot everyone he has at some absurd price with the caveat that they're free if they don't tape at least 42". I mean 42" shouldn't be a problem if he has 47"s. I bet the excuses start rolling before the hunt even happens

If a person can even guarantee an Axis 40" or more you can just about name your price.

Many have claimed 40" axis but have yet to show one with a tape against it.

He showed me a pic of one.. I would have said close to 38" but that was about it. Since he was a customer looking to buy I didn't argue with him....

The picture that Elkhunter 49 took is the largest Axis i have ever seem. That Axis is one of those you could get some really big money for.

I think that monster is around 38", definetly the best Axis ive ever seen live or dead, the wide ones always make you think longer, heres a 38" my buddy killed last year when we hunted with Pope brothers, hes not real wide but was a stud. Its hard to tell in the pic but his horns went way back then come back forward not just straight up.

Shucks, I have people tell me all of the time that they see axis down the road that are 48" and 14 points. And they jump the 10 foot fence all of the time (the fence is 6 feet)

That is the biggest Axis I have seen alive or dead in my
40 years of hunting exotics. There is always a lot of talk
about a 40" Axis.....yet to see it......Maybe this one?

Yeah he’s a monster

That giant Axis was incredible to see in the field. He was just magnificent to witness and photograph. I wish all of you folks could have seen him with your own eyes as well. His image is burned into my brain forever

A friend of mine forwarded this pic to me of a monster Axis that came from one of the hunting groups on facebook, it *almost* looks a little photoshoped, but I dont really know.

Those would be the longest caudle tines on record...if that were an undoctored photo.
