Red Deer Hind hunt success at WLR - 10/31/16 10:11 PM
This is the second time I've been to Wendy Lou Reserve for a Red Deer Hind meat hunt and again was very happy with the results. I had several shot opportunities and almost wish it took longer to locate a heard that was within my range. But this year I was confident out to 300 yards. I had a suppressed .270 Win M70 with a First Focal Plane Nightforce scope. Loaded with Custom Reloads of Dallas 130 grain SP magnum loads that I was grouping at 1/4" at 100 yards. (Thanks Chad)
I took the first shot at a comfortable 224 yards. The second was a little further at 257. Both were double lung and went down is seconds.
Mike and Kevin were fantastic. They also did a great job skinning and quartering the deer. I am very impressed with Kevin's knife work on the back straps. Wish I took pictures of that but lets say there was not much left on the bone.
I look forward to my next outing with WLR.
