Mount this blackbuck?

Shot this blackbuck a couple weeks ago. He was free range, first one I've ever killed. Don't really know how to measure him, but he was roughly 19" from base to tips (in a straight line). I have 2 questions...

Would his size make a good pedestal mount and or any other kind of shoulder mount? Yes, he is a trophy to me, but if he is considered sub par I will just euro mount him.

Second question, if he is worth mounting, can anyone recommend a taxidermist near the FW/Granbury area?

Most definitely mount...Post up in the taxidermy section and look through some of the posts.....I believe God's Creation Taxidermy is in Granbury...He has some pics in the taxi section...

That is a very good BB. You are the one who decides what to do with him. If you haven't caped or froze him you have only one way to go.

He is probably about the same size as mine was. Love my mount.

Little farther from you but NateC did mine and did an outstanding job. Well worth the little drive.

I'd mount him. And I would take him to non-typical taxidermy in tolar tx. He has worked on 5 mounts for currently has one of my auodad and blackbucks as well. He does great work and you chat find better prices. Def worth driving and lookibg as his work in person.

Gods creation taxidermy, he is doing stuff for me and im in Houston.

Gods creation is in Cresson, directly across the street from my neighborhood. I went over and took a look at his new shop, looked good... But, I was warned about him from a few people, was told he has a few mounts and not getting back to people (more then just a long turn around).

Mark mounted a deer that my wife shot this past year around five month turn around.

I hear Ram Country in Joshua is pretty good , they have some of the best prices i have found around.

Mount it, if anyone trys to say it's on the small side, remind them it was free range. Free range blackbuck aren't that common period he's a decent one.

I have his card and I live in the neighborhood directly across the street. I appreciate all the responses. I am talking to a few taxidermist mentioned on here. Gonna vet them all, since I had a bad experience 8 years ago.

Why do you care if other people think he is subpar? Hes a trophy to you and will be a reminder of the hunt everytime you look at it. Put it on a wall!

I always heard that a trophy blackbuck has three curls on this horns. Yours seems to match that criteria. Nice specimen.

Trophy is whatever you want it to be. Don't like it...don't kill it. It doesn't matter what a book says it is or what anyone else thinks of it. It's yours, get it mounted if you like it. Nobody else has to spend money on it or look at it and think of the hunting memories but you.
