Mouflon/Corsican hunt coming soon....

Mouflon/Corsican hunt coming soon.... - 01/07/16 08:37 PM

Got a couple of Rams that I am going to put up for a hunt. This weekend I have a Red deer hunt and afterwards going to try and find them since I took all my cameras down to use for whitetail season on the low fence side of my place. Once I verify they are still there I will put up avail dates and prices but wanted to see how much interest there was...dont know if any of them are nice enough for "trophys" although that Mouflon looks pretty nice....

BTW, not an expert on Rams, whats gonna happen with the one with the broken horn? Do they grow back? Is it from old age? Is there any other use for the ram since he is not suitable for hunting? Do people eat them?

Make sure the Mouflon is a pure Mouflon if you are selling/pricing him as such. White saddle patch and horn shape are indicators, but a pure Mouflon will have a tail that is no longer than 4 inches. So if the tail is on the longer side it is likely a hybrid.

Good info..he was bought as a pure mouflon. Have to go off the info I was given, but I'll post up pics as I get them so you guys can make your own decision...

Drove around all day yesterday and didnt see anything. Very windy. Beautiful day today so I took the wife and kids out for a drive and ran across him....

I put up cams at various spots and found him at the trough feeder, so I may have some other pics to put up next weekend. Got these through the binocs just a few hour ago...

The Corsican is next to him, but looks to have a broken horn on the second twist. Need to get a better look at him..

I would like to do a hunt when it warms up a bit....its gonna be a tough one as I dont see them very often...well have to talk about that and price accordingly. I do have lodging avail if we need more than 1 day...

Mouflon/Corsican hunt - 01/12/16 03:40 AM

I am going to price him at $2250....

I can only do weekends right now, and this probably wont be an easy hunt.

High powered Rifle only (308, 30.06, magnums etc.)

The ranch is in Medina Texas which is 45mi NW of San Antonio.

I do have lodging avail for Sat night.

If driving from out of town we can put you up Fri night if need be to be ready for Sat AM for an additional $50.

$100 a day fee for my time, up front non refundable.

Will provide breakfast on Sunday morning but the rest of the food/drinks are your responsibility.

I would prefer to limit it to 3 people max with 1 shooter.

There is a catfish tank if there is a kid involved, bring a pole, some nice ones in there.

It will be a combo of driving in my vehicle/stalking to find them.

I can help with whatever needs to be done, I have zero experience field dressing a Ram, ha!

Any other questions please ask, I want to make sure the hunter knows what to expect. Thanks for looking!!

Re: Mouflon/Corsican hunt - 01/14/16 03:40 AM

IF and that might be the rub, the ram is a full blood mouflon, then your advertised price is in the normal range for such a hunt. It sounds like you are throwing in a reasonable lodging option also. Nothing wrong as I see it with your offering. My estimate is ram will be 31-32 inches.
If the ram is not a pure mouflon and there could be a few indications he is a little mixed, then you'd be on the high side for a mix type ram at 32 inches but not outta the ball park, but if mixed there are places offering more amentities such as food included for similar pricing range.

He's a good looking ram- and someone will be proud to hunt him.

Thanks bud! I wasnt sure were to start, I had seen on one of the "fancy" ranch sites they had them for $3250 and had all kinds of other goodies, so I knocked down a thousand. Trying to figure out where to concentrate... Red deer, Auodads White tails or Sika so I thought I should hunt this guy out rather than just feeding him.

Shadams- I'd recommend you start a new thread- gather all your info in one post along with pics. Folks might assume this is an old thread coming around and not recognizing you are now offering a hunt. Just a suggestion .
