Location of Venomous Snakes

Hi Everyone,

I'm working on a project and want to film professional snake "hunters" finding venomous snakes. They are looking for these snakes strictly for educational purposes and for medical research, in no way will they be harming the snakes! They are huge snake enthusiasts and well-experienced professionals!

That being said, I'm not too familiar with the Texas area, but I hear that there are great areas with venomous snakes in the state. I was hoping that I could get some help in finding specific locations where these venomous snakes are predominantly in. I've reached out to a few specific ranches that seem to have an abundance of them but would love to hear where everyone else is finding these snakes, aside from state parks. I've reached out to state parks and they're pretty restrictive in filming permits and such, so any suggestions besides state property would be extremely helpful!

Where are these "well-experienced professionals" from? Who is this "project" being made for? You will find venomous snakes in just about every county in Texas, some will more species and different species than others.

If I were going to go out looking for venomous snakes right now I would look in east Texas in areas that have been subject to high water. You will probably find a large number of Water Moccasins, Corals, and Timber Rattlers displaced by the floods. If you are looking for Diamondbacks areas around Sweetwater are known for them but they can be found anywhere west of about Fort Worth. Good luck filming your buddies trip to the Emergency Room.

In the last month I've killed three cotton mouths and one copper head. I've also seen two other cotton mouths that got away from me, plus a couple of snakes that I'm guessing where rat snakes. In the city of Tyler, there are people posting pics of cotton mouths on Rose Rudman Hiking trail all the time. All you have to do is look along any creek to find snakes, or lift something that is laying on the ground. I've never seen so many snakes as I have this year!!!

Any of the beach sand dunes will have an over abundance of rattle snakes.

@stxranchman: The show I'm working on is for Discovery Channel. I cannot disclose who the snake experts are at this time as all information prior to release of the show is confidential, but rest assure, they are professionals!

Just having a really tough time locating property owners who have venomous snakes, as most of Texas land is private. As for the public properties, they've been resistant of letting a film crew come out and having them handle the snakes (meaning touch or anything) even WITH proper permits! So we're trying to stay away from public properties at this point.

If anyone has acres and/or square miles of properties with various venomous snakes on them, and would like us to come film a Discovery show on their property, please feel free to message me! Would love to contact a few of y'all!

Where specifically in Tyler did you see these cottonmouths? Looking for specifics so I can see what type of property it is and see if I can get a filming permit there.
