what breed of ram or ewe - 06/18/15 11:24 PM

Is the best table fare? Dont have alot of money to blow but have noticed a few decent deals. Wanting to put my fiancee on her first kill. Shes interested in somethin with horns or somethin "pretty" but i need to eat. I bought her a rifle and she has been shooting at the range probably half a dozen times since Christmas and says shes ready

Or maybe an axis doe?

axis doe all the way...

meat is awesome, and you dont have to spring for a $500 taxi bill.
instead just tan the hide for her as a trophy and that will be $100 to $150 and you have a nice hide to display.

Most Axis does are $300 to $350 for a day hunt so yes it can be done for under $400 unless
you will be needing lodging and some places charge a daily guide fee too.

Will need lodging of sorts for a night as i doubt we will make the trip, harvest and clean then drive back to houston in a day. But could see a fairly inexpensive hotel being in route on the way home.

Maybe you could consider tanning that axis hide? Beautiful and makes a nice trophy to remember the occasion... up

A hide can be frozen and tanned later if immediate cash is an issue.

I haven't seen Bennie from Eagle Lake Exotics on lately but that could be done as a day.
