A large adult cow, maybe 140 or 150 pounds.

I would like to know what your boned out, trimmed out, finished package weight is without any beef or pork added in. I may have to try one of these hunts next season. Right now my freezer if FULL of venison from Missouri.

Sorry, but we don't give to processors! We process our meat at home and don't de-bone too much. A lot of Pakistani cuisine requires broth from bones, or bones in the curry, so it enhances taste quite a bit. But I will do the best I can: I'll tell you how much meat/bone we get off of em. Would that be okay? smile

How does Nilgai meat compare to deer/cattle/etc.?

Re: Nilgai cow hunts 750.00 - 01/13/15 05:08 AM

^^^ to me Nilgai has much less of a gamey taste than deer and is leaner than beef.

Nilgai tastes great. Way better than Whitetail, but at par with red/elk, axis, and oryx

I got a Nilgai cow in Pearsall at the old Laguna Vista/Galloways for 750 and it is probably the best meat hunt that you can go on.

With the prices that many are asking for Axis does(500-650! OUCHH!)I would DEFINATELY go with a Nilgai cow since to me at least, it's more economical. You get 5x's the meat and it's on par with axis, plus it is equally tasty smile

Had a great hunt. Shot 3 great sized nilgai. I ended up shooting it one of em in the neck instead of my dad with his bow. Will try and get weights for you passthru if I can. They are the size of elk cows. Like literally.
