Tumble Yote!

My first coyote of 2017. A nice little pack came in and after fiddlefarting with the controls, I picked out the male making the biggest mess and shot him. He took off running like he was still in good shape and the 3rd shot took all the gas out of him. That he ran with 50 cent piece-sized hole in his shoulder is still a bit beyond my comprehension. In the slow-mo at the end, you can see large amounts of blood pouring out of the wound, but he still managed a good run.

Nice shooting DNS. Pound for pound coyotes can be one of the toughest animals to kill IMO. I have dropped them in their tracks many many times but have also sat slackjawed watching some I knew I hit well run off like nothing ever touched them. I shot one with a .270 WSM at about 50 yds out of a deer blind a few years ago walking straight away from me so the bullet hit him midway down the top of his spine. He pancaked right there and to my complete surprise, jumped up and took off with only 3 of his 4 legs working. I tracked him down, he was leaving a trail of hydraulic fluid and parts as he ran, and found him about 40 yds from where he was hit. I turned him over and he had been pretty well hollowed out and to this day I cannot figure out how he made it that far in that condition.
