ATN ThOR HD 384 4.5X First Coyote Hunt - 05/26/16 03:20 PM
We received a few units of the new ThOR HD and will be testing and hunting with the units over the next few weeks. Here is a short video from the first coyote hunt with the new ThOR HD 384 4.5X 50mm.
Initial impressions:
Overall image quality is great, love the onboard recording, menus are quick and responsive, although the layout takes some getting used to and there needs to be a faster way to calibrate and switch polarity. The image in white hot looks really good, black hot looks washed out. It would definitely benefit from an independent contrast/gain adjustment. Seems like the automatic gain control could use a little refinement - the screen flickers a lot when panning across various foreground and background objects. I need to spend some more time using the scope and familiarizing myself with some of the other features and functions, but so far I'm pleasantly surprised by this unit.
