Handheld light for Hog Hunting??? - 03/01/16 06:06 PM

My son and I are going on a hog hunt this weekend. We have hunted hogs several times before, but never at night. What would you guys recommend as far as a handheld light of some sort?

What type of light and what color light? Brand and model would be appreciated as well. We will be hunting over feeders at about 60 yards. Any tips on using the light would be appreciated as well.

Thanks!

Make sure you use green or red. Try not to use white. Is someone going to spot while the other shoots from a blind? I have used a $15 flashlight held in one hand and rifle on window with the trigger in my other hand but the red or green will reduce them spooking greatly.

We love these lights. There are some dealers around here or you can order. The 403 is a great rifle mount light. Their Scan Pro headlamp is awesome. At 60 yards you don't need much light.

A feeder mounted green LED motion light would be best and cheapest you can get at most stores. No handheld needed.

No question the xtreme predator light rifle light and I use red. Sometimes you have to shoot quick with green or white. Start the light at the sky then slowly lower the light down onto the pig. You will also need a light down at the feeder. Xtreme predator lights also carry a red feeder light that will allow you to see the pigs move in under the feeder. This will keep you from having to check with your gun every couple of minutes. I personally got in a bind where I didn't have one years back. So I went to harbor freight and got an LED trailer brake light (red obviously), bought a few alligator clips, wired it up to a 6v battery and it lasted all night and worked like a champ. At 60yds you may not even need the XPL (though recommended) to see better. Hope this helps and if you need anything else just shoot me a pm.
You can Contact me or Matt from Band of Brothers to order the scope light.

I bought the cheapest green light on eBay.

Made sure it used a 18650 battery.

I think I paid 18$ for mine, but it came with mounts for my gun and a pressure switch.

The thing shines BRIGHT at 200yards or more. Mine works as well as the 150$ light my bro has which also uses the 18650 battery.

I don't need hog lights on my feeder with this

Thanks Woodrow1! I borrowed a light for this weekends hunt, but would like to purchase one soon. Would you mind telling me what Brand/Model you have? If it works good and it's cheap...sounds like the one I need! Thanks!

I have this one and it's pretty sweet...it has all 4 colors change at the touch of a button. The light intensity is on a slide which is really nice easily operated one hand and also has a button that instantly goes to high intensity white light for the shot.
