PIG PROBLEM update

PIG PROBLEM update - 01/15/16 02:46 PM

I had several people ask how my trap worked. I thought I would send an update. Sitting at home with a mere text message to the camera the gate closes here is the results not bad.

That worked well.
What is the plan to get them out?
Bang, bang?

We have a guy that buys them. He will load them live.

Good Deal.
That's certainly a nice setup. I'm jealous!

We have a corral trap on the place where I hunt which hasn't been used in a few years. We went out and cleaned it up a few days ago to make it serviceable again, hopefully I'll have some photos to post in the next month or so. No remote trigger, though.

How do the guys that buy them get around the ""no selling of wild game meat" rule? I'm assuming of course that feral hogs fall into that category as well

Basically you and I (ordinary folks) can keep hogs for up to a week, assuming we have the facilities, with certain conditions. However, they may be transferred to a registered holding facility, which will aggregate them until they get enough to transfer to a slaughterhouse. There, the hogs are butchered and processed. As you mention however, it's illegal to sell the meat. To sell hogs, they must be alive when they are delivered to the final processing plant.

I would be interested in knowing the brand of your electronic trigger and if it's incorporated into the camera. I have a wireless camera already and am looking for an electronic gate trigger independent of the game camera. Thanks.

Very interesting. Our hogs are incredibly trap shy. We caught one time in our pen trap and after that we never saw hogs in it again in 6 months time with the gate wired open and a corn feeder feeding 2 times a day in it. Have had two other box traps out all season and haven't caught one yet.
