Year End 2015 - 70 Kills - 12/31/15 09:03 PM

It was a good year and I got to hunt with several friends and make new friends along the way.

What scope are you using?

Re: Year End 2015 - 70 Kills - 12/31/15 10:47 PM

Most of the year, I used an Armasight Zeus 3, 640 resolution, 75mm 3x scope.

I also used a prototype Pulsar Apex XD50 briefly (2x(?), 388 resolution, 50 mm lens).

Later in the year I used The Zeus 3, a Zeus 2 (1.5x 640 resolution, 40 mm), Pulsar Apex XD38a (1.5x 388 resolution, Armasight Predator (1.6x 25mm lens, 336 resolution), Armasight Zeus Pro (4x 100mm lens 640 resolution), and finally fo the coyotes at the end, I was using a IR Defense IR Hunter MKII (2.5x, 640 resolution, 35mm lens).

Awesome video compilation! I would have voted for the charging pig to end the video. I thought that was one of your best this year.

Thanks! I was doing chronological order, but if something goes really wrong next year, I will save it for last, LOL.

Great video! You are much better than I am at identifying what you are looking at. As i watched the video I saw a standard Poodle, an Irish Wolfhound, a couple of lambs, several hyenas, a wooly mammoth and Snufalufagus from Sesame Street all mixed in there!

Re: Year End 2015 - 70 Kills - 01/03/16 03:31 AM

All I can say is that no Snufalufagus was harmed in the making of the video.

Short views, too much zoom, and environmental factors can make for difficult identifications. Some of those critters were watched for a while before a shot was taken.

And no, I don't know what happened to Gigi, the poodle. roflmao

Impressive talley, & great vid.
My hunting bud got tired of my pig whacking via thermal when I got the Mark 2
in early summer. But he didn't want to spend the loot for that so from watching
your vids I sent him to UNV a few weeks ago to get the XD50 or XD50A, don't
recall which. Picked up the UNDVR and extended battery pack also.
Good job showing that product.

Dang - I don't think I even had 70 sightings on the place I hunt.

Any chance you'll do a helicopter hunt this year? That'd be some sweet thermal footage

They were all heading away and he stopped and presented a broadside target. It was an opportunity handed to me, LOL.

Man that was awesome. And x10 on the charging hog video. That was pretty intense.

Re: Year End 2015 - 70 Kills - 01/05/16 04:22 PM

Thanks, that was an experience. That was after a stalk that had me slightly up wind of the hog. The first shot went where I intended, quartered away and should have gone nicely through the boiler room. It was a fatal shot, but fatal...in a minute. The second shot missed. The 3rd shot pierced the hind flank and went through the scrotum...and then he started turning toward me as he rounded the tree. Up until he came around the tree, I was just trying to stop him before he ran

away
. I did not want a lengthy search through the briars and poison ivy. Goal achieved. This was the easiest search ever, LOL. He finished up in just about in the spot where I had been standing.

It was a real learning experience. As ever, if the shot doesn't damage the CNS, the hog may run. The only questions then are how far and in what direction?
